Community Apostolic Ministries is the new sprout of the great tree planted in 2012, lovingly known as Jehovah Shammah Apostolic Faith Church, rooted in legacy and growing toward the community and beyond. In October 2011, during a demanding season of service, Elder Ja’Meen Oliver was unknowingly stepping into God’s orchestration. A casual conversation with his godmother, Sister Crystal Nelson, led through divine timing to Sister Tonia Crew. As their paths aligned, it became clear they shared the same Apostolic Faith and a God-ordered purpose.

At the time, Elder Oliver was serving as an International Evangelist with no intention of pastoring. Yet after Sister Tonia asked him to begin an Apostolic work in Maricopa, Arizona, God ordered his steps. With counsel from his pastor, Elder Erik Cooper, and his mother in the Gospel, Pastor Velma Hamilton, he resigned from Dominion Harvest Christian Church and launched the work. The first service was held on March 18, 2012, on Toya Street in Maricopa, Arizona, in an upstairs living room loft, literally called “The Upper Room,” drawing more than 20 people. Two weeks later, on Easter Sunday, God reaffirmed a name given to him at age 18, Jehovah Shammah, meaning “The Lord is there.”

By divine providence, a permanent worship space followed, celebrated with a Fellowship Sunday attended by more than 100 people. In 2018, the headquarters ministry transitioned from Maricopa to Mesa, Arizona, where it continues to glorify God. To meet the needs of the work, at one time Jehovah Shammah adopted the multi campus model with Jehovah Shammah Maricopa, AZ; Jehovah Shammah- Mobile, AZ; Jehovah Shammah- Phoenix; and Jehovah Shammah- Casa Grande. 

 

In 2025, under divine direction, Bishop Ja’Meen Oliver facilitated a name change to Community Apostolic Ministries, honoring Jehovah Shammah Apostolic Faith Church as the legacy while embracing a future rooted in community and beyond.
